Worked at Procter & Gamble for 29 years. Over those 29 years I've worked primarily in engineering specializing in crystallization, reaction kinetics, mechanical design, fluid dynamics, and packaging.
Currently residing in the Hair Care R&D organization working on global sustainability. Efforts include sustainable solutions utilizing advanced chemical recycling, mechanical recycling, physical properties of these materials, contaminant levels, and alternatives to packaging. Significant effort in packaging life cycle analyses are investigated to ensure appropriate choices in packaging materials.
External committees or teams include - ISO TAG 308, The Association of Plastic Recyclers PET Tech Committee, The Recycling Partnership Steering Committee, and Consumer Goods Forum.
A multitude of partnerships in the area of manufacturing, municipal recyclers, plastic reclaimers, and contaminant investigation are established.
A 33-year veteran of the plastics recycling industry, Ettefagh co-founded Envision Plastics, which she grew to be the second-largest HDPE plastic recycling company in North America, and is recognized as a trusted advisor to many leading recycling and plastics organizations. Ettefagh’s expertise includes recycling infrastructure, emerging technologies, recycling operations and collection programs, market conditions, types of supply, and how to evolve and diversify markets for recycled resins.
Layman has been with Procter & Gamble for 14 years, during which time he and his team have launched sustainable materials for several familiar brands, including Pantene, Herbal Essences, Always, Pampers, tide, Ariel, and Gillette. He is also the inventor of a patented purification technology that enables the recycling of used polypropylene into like-new plastics with a lower carbon footprint than virgin materials. Layman earned his Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University.
As Strategic Sourcing Manager for Circular Feedstocks at Eastman, Marija is charged with developing PET feed streams and partnerships for Eastman’s molecular recycling technologies. Her efforts with the waste industry, PET reclaimers and advocacy organizations are centered on PET streams that are not being collected today or do not have viable end markets. She represents Eastman in The Recycling Partnership’s PET Recycling Coalition and NAPCOR. Prior to Eastman, she has worked in the plastics packaging industry for close to a decade in various supply chain and procurement roles. Most recently, she managed the PET category for a large US converter.
Anne Marie Mohan is Senior Editor for Packaging World and Editor of Contract Packaging. A Chicago native, Anne Marie earned her degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She has nearly 30 years of experience in the B to B trade press, with 20 years covering packaging. Prior to joining PMMI Media Group, she worked as a Senior Editor for Packaging Digest, where she covered trends in package manufacturing, smart and active packaging, RFID and sustainability, among other topics.
